Non-Surgical Treatment of a Class III Malocclusion Using Buccal Shelf Miniscrews

Class III malocclusions can be treated with orthopedic, camouflage, or orthognathic surgical methods, depending on the severity of problem. This case report describes non-surgical correction a problem using buccal shelf miniscrew. In 15-year-old female patient, bilateral 2x12 mm stainless steel screws were inserted into mandible to distalize lower teeth. A power chain from miniscrews was applied teeth, and anterior crossbite corrected 3 months later. addition, improvement observed in soft tissue profile patient. After 13 treatment, patient achieved an aesthetic functional occlusion. The miniscrew-supported mandibular arch distalization treatment ''borderline'' malocclusion cases offers successful alternative because it eliminates side effects seen other camouflage options.
